TUSTIN : School to Reopen, Get New Principal
- Share via
Gerry Aust has been appointed principal of the C.E. Utt Middle School, which will reopen this fall at its original campus on Browning Avenue.
Trustees of Tustin Unified School District named Aust, currently principal of Marjorie Veeh Elementary School, to his new job earlier this month. He has been with the school district for 31 years.
District officials said that Utt Middle School, which was closed in 1978 because of declining enrollment, was reopened because of the increasing number of students entering sixth, seventh and eighth grades.
With the school’s reopening, the district will have three middle schools. The others are A.G. Currie and Columbus Tustin.
Columbus Tustin, which has been using the Utt campus for the last three years, will return to its former site at 17952 Beneta Way in September, district officials said.
The Beneta Way campus was closed in 1991 for renovation. Bob Boies will remain the school principal.
