** 1/2 That Dog, “That Dog,” Geffen. The singers in this L.A. quartet (which plays on Tuesday at the Hong Kong Cafe) use their incredible voices to lilt like the Andrew Sisters on downers, scream like spoiled kids and deadpan like affected punk-rockers. The blend of silly lyrics, dirge-like noise, pristine vocal harmonies and violin may be original, but that doesn’t mean it’s appealing.

New albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
