Early Hearing Could Return Scyphers to Field Later Today

A hearing to determine whether Mike Scyphers can return to coaching is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. today at Ventura County Superior Court in Ventura, said Lawrence Trygstad, an attorney representing parents of Simi Valley High players.
The parents are seeking a temporary restraining order that would reinstate Scyphers, who has been suspended as Simi Valley High baseball coach pending a police and school district investigation into possible financial and disciplinary improprieties.
If Judge John J. Hunter rules in the parents’ favor, Scyphers, 41, could be on the field for the Pioneers’ game today at Agoura.
A group of parents who support Scyphers will meet with Supt. Mary Beth Wolford and Principal Kathryn Scroggin at 7:30 this morning at the Simi Valley Unified School District office.
