DENVER — The Salsa failed to capitalize on an overtime shootout and lost to the Colorado Foxes, 1-0, Friday night at Mile High Stadium.
Tied, 0-0, after regulation play, the teams played a scoreless 15 minutes of overtime. From there, the game was decided by the APSL shootout rule, which allows a player to attempt a penalty kick.
The Foxes’ Jeff Hooker, who scored the winning goal last week here in the Salsa’s opener, scored the winning shootout goal to give the Foxes’ a 3-2 shootout margin and the victory.
The score was tied, 2-2, in shootout goals, when Salsa’s Arturo Velazco missed his attempt wide to the right to open the door to the Foxes.
