PASADENA : Huntington Hospital to Lay Off 25 Employees
- Share via
Huntington Memorial Hospital will lay off about 25 employees from its 3,000-member staff this week in another sign of trouble for San Gabriel Valley health providers.
None of the layoffs include nurses, spokeswoman Peg Kean said. The layoffs are necessary because of a decline in patient admissions, she said.
Last year, San Gabriel Valley Medical Center laid off 17 full-time and 34 part-time employees from its staff of 881; the former Inter-Community Medical Center in Covina cut 50 full-time positions from its 1,100-member staff through a voluntary separation package, and 80 people accepted an early retirement package at Huntington.
In addition, Inter-Community Medical Center and Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina merged last April under the name Citrus Valley Health Partners.
