Cox Cable Settles Complaint: The parent of Cox Cable, one of San Diego’s two largest cable companies, with 300,000 subscribers, agreed to pay $7 million to settle a consumer complaint filed by the San Diego County district attorney’s office for improper billing of late charges. Under terms of the agreement, Cox Cable Communications Inc. will refund $3 million in late charges assessed between 1992 and this month, pay $1 million in legal and investigative costs and alter late charges over the next three years to save consumers an additional $3 million, the district attorney’s office said.
