SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Police have identified the body of a man found Thursday by a county work crew as Carlos Huerta Villavicencio, 28, of San Clemente.
Villavicencio had been shot several times in the upper torso with a small-caliber gun, according to Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Dan Martini. The body was found at the base of a 25-foot dirt embankment along La Pata Road, 200 yards east of Ortega Highway.
Martini said police do not know if Villavicencio, who was fully clothed, was killed where his body was found, or whether he was shot elsewhere and taken to the site.
