Dead Man Found at UCI Is Identified

IRVINE — A man found dead on the UC Irvine campus was identified Thursday as Robert Carlos Avila, a 34-year-old transient.
Coroner’s investigators said it will take further chemical tests to determine how Avila died.
Authorities said there was no evidence of foul play.
Avila’s body was spotted by a motorist Wednesday on a slope near a playing field at University Drive and Mesa Road.
A makeshift encampment that may have been his home was discovered behind nearby bushes.
