Agoura Trips Simi Valley, 22-20

AGOURA HILLS — Agoura High built a 22-point halftime lead and held on to upset previously undefeated Simi Valley, 22-20, in a Marmonte League game Friday.
Simi Valley (5-1-1, 3-1), which benefited from three Agoura turnovers in the second half, began its comeback in the third quarter when Robert Gonzalez intercepted an Eric Fitzgerald pass and returned it 19 yards for a touchdown.
The Pioneers closed to within 22-13 when J.J. Washington caught a 28-yard touchdown pass from Tim Bennett early in the fourth quarter, but Bennett’s pass fell incomplete on the two-point conversion try.
Washington (six receptions, 129 yards) caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from Bennett with 5 minutes 49 seconds left. Tim Wolleck kicked the extra point to draw Simi Valley within 22-20.
Simi Valley had one last chance to take the lead late in the fourth quarter, but Craig Ohm intercepted a Bennett pass and the Chargers (3-4, 3-1) ran out the clock. Bennett, who threw four interceptions, completed nine of 25 for 153 yards.
Fitzgerald, who completed 10 of 21 for 134 yards, tossed three scoring passes in the first half.
Ryan Capretta (four catches, 70 yards) caught a 45-yard scoring pass from Fitzgerald in the first quarter and added a five-yard touchdown pass from Fitzgerald in the second quarter.
Tommy Kim rushed for 82 yards in 19 carries and caught a 20-yard scoring pass from Fitzgerald in the second period.
