Irvine, from Chino Hills Ayala High, worked in relief and as a starter last season but has already made a big pitch to be a regular in the rotation this season. In his first start of the season, Irvine, a right-hander, pitched the first no-hitter in Rancho Santiago history as the Dons beat Los Angeles Pierce, 8-0. He struck out eight and walked one. Irvine was 8-1 last season for the Dons, who finished second in the State championship.
Basketball
Jason Cunningham
* Fullerton, sophomore. Scored 58 points as the Hornets split two games.
Jason Krauss
* Cypress, freshman. He had 22 points and seven rebounds as the Chargers beat Golden West, 88-84.
