CARSON : 3 Cal State Neighbors Added to Events Board
- Share via
When the board that reviews concerts at Cal State Dominguez Hills’ Olympic Velodrome meets this month, three additional members will represent Carson residents.
Since residents objected to a series of concerts last summer, the university has been negotiating with community members to reduce concerns about campus shows.
Pastor Raymond LeBlanc of the First Lutheran Church in Carson, Dr. James Whitmore and April Gipson, a community leader, have been added to the three original members of the Velodrome Governing Board.
The board reviews youth cycling, special events and other community events on campus and makes recommendations to Cal State President Robert C. Detweiler, who gives final approval for the events.
The governing board meets quarterly, but the date of the next meeting has not yet been set.
