L’Opera Travesty

“A Woman of Independent Means” (NBC, Feb. 19-21) was excellent. Sally Fields, Ron Silver and Jack Thompson were wonderful. We need more heartwarming productions like it.
I have just one complaint: Remember when Arthur (Silver) takes the whole family to the opera? During the opera scene we hear the duet “Au Fond du Temple Saint” from “The Pearl Fishers” by Georges Bizet. Later, Arthur says his favorite opera of the season was Verdi’s “La Traviata” and we hear the Bizet theme again. And then again and again during Part 2.
What else was incorrect? Shame on the producers! Don’t they know (or care) that even opera lovers sometimes watch TV?
