Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan and Pat Hayes, mayor of North Little Rock, Ark., bowed to tradition and exchanged wagers over the game.

Hayes now owes Riordan a honey-cured ham and a Hog sweatshirt. If UCLA had lost, Riordan would have had to pay up with a backpack full of sunglasses, suntan lotion (“of the highest SPF, of course,” said press deputy Noelia Rodriguez), a volleyball and a UCLA beach towel.
