COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Fullerton Moves Alone Into Third by Beating OCC

Despite committing eight errors and falling behind by six runs, Fullerton beat Orange Coast, 9-8, in Orange Empire Conference baseball Thursday.
The Hornets (27-10-1, 10-8), who scored four in the seventh and the winning run in the eighth, took sole possession of third place.
Fullerton’s Poncho Ruiz drove in the tying run with a two-run single in the seventh and the winning run with an infield hit in the eighth. Brian Logan went three for three with a home run, triple and four runs batted in. Scott Parsonage (8-1), picked up the victory in seven innings of relief.
Orange Coast (19-18, 9-9) took a 6-0 lead into the fourth inning, before the Hornets rallied.
In other Orange Empire Conference baseball:
Cypress 10, Saddleback 2--Augie Ojeda had three hits and three RBIs and Brooks Morris was three for four with two runs scored for Cypress (28-9-1, 13-5). Mario Opipari and Corey Dean-Yeager hit home runs for the Chargers.
Riverside 6, Golden West 2--Jason Clark was three for four for Riverside (20-16-1, 9-9). Luke Fox was three for four for Golden West (11-26, 3-15).
In the Orange Empire Conference women’s tennis tournament:
Seeded players advance--All eight seeded players advanced in the second round of the rain-shortened tournament at Coto de Caza. Top-seeded Debbie Vonusa of Fullerton beat Orchid Houshmand of Irvine Valley, 6-0, 6-0, and second-seeded Leila Ryan of Golden West posted a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Heather Eyes of Orange Coast.
The other seeded players advanced to today’s third round at Golden West were Ann-Marie Roseen of Saddleback, Suzan Yildiz and Christine Michaels of Orange Coast, Stella Tran of Golden West, Nicole Abusaid of Irvine Valley and Michelle Caravajal of Fullerton.
