VATICAN CITY — The Vatican has revoked the accreditation for six months of the correspondent of the Madrid newspaper ABC, accusing the daily of breaking the embargo on the Pope’s recent encyclical.
The Spanish newspaper published broad excerpts from the encyclical a day before its March 30 release. In an article Wednesday, the newspaper defended publication, saying it had obtained the last five encyclicals early “by its own means.”
ABC said its correspondent, Miguel Castellvi, will remain in Rome and cover the Vatican.
