Multi-Agency Sweep Nets 30 Suspected of Gang Activities

GARDEN GROVE — Thirty people were arrested in a two-day gang sweep over the weekend conducted by a coalition of county law enforcement agencies, authorities said.
Those arrested Friday and Saturday were booked on suspicion of a variety of crimes ranging from misdemeanors to attempted murder, said Sgt. Bruce Prince of the Garden Grove Police Department. Four guns were also confiscated, Prince said.
Officers from the Garden Grove, Santa Ana, Westminster, Orange, Placentia, Huntington Beach, Anaheim, La Habra, Fountain Valley and Costa Mesa police departments were involved in the sweep.
Also participating were members of the the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the county Probation Department, the district attorney’s office, state police and immigration officials, Prince said.
The sweep was “intended for local law enforcement agencies to work together to impact gang violence and activity,” Prince said.
