San Gabriel Valley : Homeowners Group Loses Round in Rose Bowl Battle

Score one for a more active Rose Bowl.
Recently elected Pasadena Councilwoman Ann-Marie Villicana has ousted a longtime homeowners advocate from the council-appointed governing body for the stadium.
“It’s a political attack,” said ousted member Penny York, who also belongs to a group of Rose Bowl neighbors who fought increased use of the stadium, which they complained brought in traffic, noise and crime. York is married to William York, who lost to Villicana in April’s council race.
York will be replaced by attorney John Flowers, who favors increased use of the Rose Bowl.
“We have a multimillion-dollar stadium there and we need people who understand business,” Villicana said. . . .
