A 35-year-old Reseda man with the mental capacity of a 10-year-old has not been seen since Friday night, police said Sunday.
Roy Vandervoet was last seen by a counselor as he was leaving his group home at 7923 Reseda Blvd. about 9 p.m. Friday, Los Angeles Police Detective Dave Bryant said.
Vandervoet’s roommate woke up about 10 a.m. Saturday and found that he was not there, Bryant said.
His counselor believes that Vandervoet tried to take a bus to a school in the 14100 block of Haynes Street in Van Nuys, where he had recently started attending classes, and got lost on the way, police said.
Bryant said that there is no evidence that Vandervoet either ran away or was abducted, and that he had not previously wandered off from the group home.
Vandervoet was described as an Asian with black hair and brown eyes, 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing 189 pounds.
Anyone with information about Vandervoet’s whereabouts is asked to call the LAPD’s West Valley station at (818) 756-8542.
