GM Reports Lower June Auto Sales: General Motors Corp., which has largely resisted the temptation of offering big rebates to consumers, reported Monday that U.S. car and truck sales fell 3.9% last month from June, 1994, levels. GM said car sales for the month fell 5.3% to 281,286 units, while truck sales fell 1.8% to 183,603 units. Sales fell 5.1% for all eight auto makers reporting Monday to 582,889 units. For the first half of 1995, sales for the eight auto makers, including GM, were 6.8% below the same period last year. GM’s Detroit rivals, Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Corp., are expected to report higher sales for June on Wednesday. The difference, analysts say, is the heftier rebates on Ford and Chrysler vehicles.
