Today is Independence Day, the 219th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. It is observed as a federal holiday.
Closed: All government offices, courts, banks, post offices, stock and commodity exchanges, libraries and many businesses. MTA buses will follow Sunday schedules and Metrolink trains will not run.
Trash: Regular Tuesday trash collection for Los Angeles city residents will be postponed until Wednesday.
