DANA POINT — A memorial service will be held Wednesday for Mark Gleckl, a 40-year-old Dana Point resident who was killed Friday while filming an off-road race in Barstow.
Gleckl had worked in the broadcasting industry throughout the world for the past 10 years as a cameraman and director.
He was killed while filming and directing the Tecate Trophy Truck feature of the Fireworks 250 when a truck in the race ran through a spectator fence and struck him.
He is survived by his wife, Maria, and their children, Amy and Anthony.
The service will be at 1 p.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Dana Point.
In lieu of flowers, a trust fund for the children’s education called the Gleckl Fund has been set up at Farmers and Merchants Bank, P.O. Box 1675, San Juan Capistrano, 92693.
