Israeli Court Rejects Spy’s Bid for Release

JERUSALEM — An Israeli court Friday turned down a request by an Israeli scientist jailed 12 years ago as a Soviet spy to be freed because of ill health, the Itim news agency said.
The court, meeting in closed session, decided Marcus Klingberg, in his 70s, still poses a security risk and could not be released, Itim reported.
Klingberg, an epidemiologist, was convicted of espionage in 1983.
