The Mystery of Picasso (Bravo Monday at 1 p.m., Tuesday at 11 a.m., Friday at 11 a.m., Saturday at 9 a.m.): For several hours, we watch Pablo Picasso paint, through a transparent canvas, in one of the best-ever cinematic portrayals of an artist at work. All of the canvases painted here were destroyed afterward, a successful, if dubious, ploy to get this 1955 H.G. Clouzot film declared a French national art treasure.
Body Snatchers (HBO Monday at 8 p.m.), a 1993 film directed by Abel Ferrara, reimagines the classic science-fiction story about sinister pods from outer space. The most adult horror film in quite some time.
