PLACENTIA — After a monthlong investigation, police arrested two people Friday on suspicion of selling illegal steroids to an undercover officer.
Arrested and taken into custody for allegedly transporting and selling anabolic steroids were Sharif Abdelbaset, 20, of Yorba Linda and Jose Medina Jr., 24, of Irvine, said police spokeswoman Corrine Loomis. Both were being held in the Costa Mesa City Jail.
Investigators also served a search warrant at an Irvine home and confiscated $20,000 worth of additional steroids and numerous loaded handguns and rifles, Loomis said.
The arrests came on the heels of an investigation by Placentia police into the sale of illegal steroids conducted by the department narcotics unit, police said. During the investigation, purchases of the drugs--a muscle- and performance-enhancing agent--were made by an undercover officer.
