SIMI VALLEY : Center Reduces Cost of Mammograms

In recognition of October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Simi Valley Hospital’s Nancy Reagan Breast Center is offering reduced-cost mammograms for area women.
Doctors at the center recommend that women ages 35 to 40 have at least one mammogram done during that age period, and they recommend that women ages 40 to 49 receive mammograms every one to two years. Women over 50, they say, should receive a mammogram every year.
In July, officials at the center estimated they had helped more than 4,500 women during the previous 12-month period with early screening, biopsies and surgery.
Until the end of November, the center--located at Alamo Street and Sycamore Drive in Simi Valley--will offer mammograms for $55, reduced from $75. For more information, call 583-8443.
