VALENCIA — An off-duty sheriff’s deputy and another man stabbed each other in the chest with scissors during a fight early Saturday, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
The incident occurred shortly after 3 a.m. at the Valencia home of Deputy Raymond Casillas, 30, who works out of the department’s East Los Angeles Substation, said Deputy Brian Jones, a department spokesman.
Casillas and David Davila, 20, of Los Angeles, were both hospitalized in stable condition at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Saturday afternoon, each with a collapsed lung. The incident is being investigated by the department’s internal criminal investigations bureau, Jones said.
“It is being investigated as an assault with a deadly weapon,” he said. “We don’t know yet who started it.”
