Huntington Beach became known as a surfing hot spot after the Jan and Dean song “Surf City” became a hit in the 1960s.
Today, the city is the site of the U.S. Open of Surfing and is home to the International Surfing Museum. Last year, the city secured a trademark for its famous name: “Surf City, Huntington Beach.”
