Central Los Angeles : GRADUATING LEADERS
A graduation ceremony was held Thursday night in downtown Los Angeles for the 30 participants in the Riordan Volunteer Leadership Development Program, a project sponsored by the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce.
The Riordan leaders are young professionals ages 26 to 40 who are trained to bring businesslike efficiency to nonprofit groups, director Lynn Crandall said.
The participants first take classes about nonprofit management and then participate on a committee or task force of a nonprofit agency, such as L.A. Artcore, the Watts Summer Games or the Hollywood Beautification Team, Crandall said.
Graduates of the program typically go on to serve as a board member of an agency, she said.
