Registration is underway for the first of three high school proficiency exams that will be administered next year, officials said Wednesday.
Sign-up forms must be turned in by Jan. 10. The three-hour test will be held Jan. 20 at the Ventura County Superintendent of Schools Office in Camarillo.
Those passing the exam receive a certificate that is the legal equivalent of a high school diploma. The registration fee is $47.
Registration forms, sample questions and a mailing envelope are available at public and private high schools and at all public libraries.
The exam is open to anyone 16 or older, whether enrolled in school or not, officials said.
