in Lobo Invitational at Albuquerque
Time--7:15 p.m. PST. Radio--KWNK (670).
Pepperdine completes a five-game trip this week in the four-team Lobo Invitational. In today’s first game, New Mexico (8-0) plays Dartmouth (6-2). The championship game will be played at about 7:30 p.m. Friday. The Waves, 1-14 in away games last season, improved to 4-3 on the road with an 80-76 victory over San Jose State on Saturday. Gerald Brown made 14 of 16 shots for a career-best 35 points, the most points by a Pepperdine player since 1990. Brown leads the team with an 18.1 scoring average, followed by Marques Johnson (16.4), who is making 44.1% of his three-point attempts. The Waves will have to contend with the inside play of forward Tunji Awojobi, a 6-foot-7, 235-pound junior from Nigeria who averages 26.4 points and 11.4 rebounds while shooting 61.1% from the field. The Terriers also have 6-9 center Joey Beard, a transfer from Duke who became eligible last week.
