SANTA ANA : Crash Shuts 2 Lanes of Costa Mesa Freeway
- Share via
A two-trailer big rig hauling about 80 tons of asphalt collided with a pickup truck Thursday, causing major traffic congestion along the Costa Mesa Freeway for several hours, California Highway Patrol officials said.
Both vehicles were heading south on the freeway just before 1 p.m. when a sudden stop in traffic apparently caused the vehicles to crash near the MacArthur Boulevard exit, Officer Keith Bauer said.
No one was hurt, but the collision blocked off two lanes for a couple of hours while investigators tried to clear the scene, Bauer said.
The accident is still under investigation, CHP officials said.
