Central Los Angeles : Show of Italian Art Opens in Loft District

A gallery show featuring the works of artists from Umbria in central Italy is on display through Jan. 28 at the Brewery in the artists loft district of downtown Los Angeles as part of an exchange program with Los Angeles artists. It will be open from noon to 5 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Sculptor and performance artist John O’Brien coordinated the project with Secondo Sannipoli, director of the Visual Arts Centre of Gubbio, Italy.
The 10 Italian artists represented in the show, “Dal Campo D’Osservazione to the Brewery,” created their pieces partly in Italy and finished them in Los Angeles.
“Campo D’Osservazione” translates to “field of observation,” O’Brien said, and is the name of an Etruscan sundial found in Gubbio, which the artists use as a symbol of how their culture differs from Roman-influenced Italy.
