HUNTINGTON BEACH — Four people, including a teenager, were arrested early Saturday on suspicion of armed robbery after a victim managed to wrest away a 9-millimeter semiautomatic weapon from the assailants, police said.
Avis Gilmore, 29, of Stanton, and Fontaine Russell, 34, of Huntington Beach, were robbed at an apartment after meeting one of the suspects and taking him there, police said.
One of the victims disarmed a suspect and held him at gunpoint before police arrived, Lt. Jon Arnold said.
The three others were held in connection with the incident.
Arrested on suspicion of armed robbery were: Jernando Morante, 23; Aurelio Preciado, 25, and Hermenejido Mendoza, 20, all of Santa Ana. A 17-year-old also was arrested on suspicion of armed robbery.
Authorities said the vehicle the suspects were driving had been stolen on Friday in Fullerton.
