Woodbridge, Junior
Basketball/Center
Woodbridge Coach John Halagan said it takes a team effort to unleash Burgess, a 6-foot-10 center. “Our kids realize Chris is one of the best players around,” he said, “and they are going to get him the ball when he is in an advantage position.” That happened quite a bit Wednesday when Burgess scored 48 points in a 103-69 victory over University, which doesn’t have a player taller than 6-0. Burgess made 20 of 26 shots, including three three-pointers. He also had 12 rebounds. Friday, in the Warriors’ Sea View League opener, Burgess scored 28 points in a 68-58 victory over Newport Harbor.
