Lake Piru Is Hot Spot Despite Colder Weather

The cold weather has had a positive impact at most lower-elevation trout fisheries, and nowhere is that as evident as at Lake Piru.
“I’d say 99% of people are catching fish,” said Art Caldara, marina manager at the Ventura County reservoir. “It’s just exploding. [Sunday] I sent out a family of four who had never fished, and they came back with four fish--that’s pretty good.”
Caldara said trollers using “practically anything” are accounting for most limits.
