COSTA MESA — A teenager working a midmorning shift in a sandwich shop was robbed at gunpoint Saturday, police said.
No one was injured in the 10:15 a.m. robbery of the Subway Sandwich store in the 3000 block of Bristol Street. Police said the incident was similar to the robbery of nearby Subway a week ago.
Sgt. Robert Phillips said the gunman entered the store while the teen was helping customers and waited for the others to leave. He then crawled under the counter, pointed a large, automatic handgun at the employee and demanded the contents of the cash register, about $255.
The robber was described as about 18, 5-foot-8, and 140 pounds, Phillips said.
