Chevron Land Sale OKd

HUNTINGTON BEACH — An Orange County Superior Court judge has ruled that Chevron Corp. should be allowed to proceed this month with its planned sale of land in Orange County to a Wall Street firm and local builder.
Members of the SeaCliff Country Club, many of whom live in the nearby Holly SeaCliff neighborhood, had filed suit to stop the planned sale, saying they should have been given an opportunity to purchase their club, which is among the holdings being sold. But Judge Robert Polis ruled on the side of Chevron and said the sale could go forward. Gary Mobley, attorney for the club members, said they are considering an appeal.
Chevron is planning to sell 18,000 acres, many of which are in Orange County, to a real estate fund controlled by Morgan Stanley & Co. and developer Christopher Gibbs.
