Warner Plans Theme Park, Studio Venture: Entertainment giant Time Warner Inc. and British broadcaster MAI unwrapped plans for a $344-million movie theme park and studio in Britain that should give a further boost to the reviving British film industry. “We believe this investment will be the catalyst for films by local producers,” and attract world-class filmmakers to Britain, said Sandy Resisenbach, an executive vice president of Time Warner’s Warner Bros. studio subsidiary. The 50-50 joint venture, to be built on a 150-acre site to the west of London and to open for the 1999 tourist season, is expected to attract about 2 million visitors a year. The year-round, 54,000-square-foot studio would provide much-needed facilities for British filmmakers.
