Re “Trust: It’s the Crisis du Jour,” Column Left, Feb. 11:
I do agree with Alexander Cockburn on one point: It’s better for a democracy if the people do not trust the government. This makes a good argument for smaller government and also brings up a pretty good rule to live by.
Self-reliance and responsibility will minimize your need to depend upon those you don’t trust.
