A Simi Valley woman and her two 10-year-old passengers were injured Saturday morning when the van they were in swerved off Lake Park Drive and hit a tree, Simi Valley police officials said.
Kathleen Baccigaluppi, 45, was transported to Los Robles Medical Center in Thousand Oaks with major injuries. She was listed in fair and stable condition in intensive care Saturday night, a nursing supervisor said.
The two boys, whose names were not released, were taken to Simi Valley Hospital. One was treated for multiple facial wounds and released.
The other boy was in surgery Saturday night for severe facial lacerations and a fractured jaw. He was listed in serious condition, a nursing supervisor said.
The accident occurred at 10:46 a.m. when Baccigaluppi swerved off the road after turning her head to check out an unusual noise in the back of the van, police officials said. The boys were not wearing seat belts.
