Bell Pitches Three-Hitter as Cal Lutheran Rolls, 7-1

Richard Bell pitched a three-hitter and struck out 10 as Cal Lutheran defeated Eastern Connecticut State, 7-1, Wednesday in a nonconference baseball game at Cal Lutheran.
Bell (6-0) pitched his second complete game of the season. The victory was the sixth in a row and the 15th in 16 games for the Kingsmen (18-4-1).
Rik Work had three hits and two runs batted in while Eric Boben, Rich Holmes and Sean Smith each had two hits.
Eastern Connecticut (9-3) was held hitless until Scott Chiasson’s single in the sixth inning.
The Warriors were awarded their run after being retired in the second inning when the umpires reversed a call from earlier in the inning.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Pepperdine 5, Washington 4--The fifth-ranked Waves (11-5) defaulted three matches but got singles victories from Isabela Petrov, Kathrin Denn and Tomoko Tsorotani to edge the Huskies in a nonconference match at Pepperdine.
Seattle 8, Cal Lutheran 1--Marcie Scott and Louise O’Sullivan won at No. 3 doubles for the Regals (4-5-1) in a nonconference loss to the Chieftains (6-4) at Cal Lutheran.
