Bicyclist Killed in Dana Point Collision

DANA POINT — A 20-year-old Santa Ana woman riding her bicycle on Street of the Golden Lantern collided with a van at noon Friday and died at a hospital several hours later from major head injuries, Orange County Sheriff’s officials said.
The bicyclist, Maria Guadalupe Reyes, and the driver were southbound on Golden Lantern approaching Dana Point Harbor Drive when the collision occurred at a driveway entrance to the Pavilions supermarket parking lot, Sheriff’s Lt. Rich Paddock said. Reyes died about 3:15 p.m. at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo.
The driver was not cited, and the accident is under investigation, Paddock said.
