Ventura Sticks It to Rochester, 8-2

The Ventura Mariners got off to a quick start in the USA Hockey National Junior B Championships in Bridgewater, N.J., on Wednesday.
Ventura scored three goals in the final 10 minutes of the first period and didn’t look back in an 8-2 trouncing of heavily favored Rochester, N.Y., in a pool-play game of the five-day tournament.
Quinn Terentieff scored at the 3:53 mark of the first period when he knocked a rebound past Rochester goalie Jared Zambito.
Defenseman Kimu Mau’u and center Ryan Weber each scored two goals for the Mariners (37-15-1).
Madick Tate added three assists for Ventura, which today faces the New York Apple Core (31-0).
