School board members say they will not change the outcome of the March 15 cheerleader tryouts at Irvine High School.
Parents of 11 junior varsity cheerleaders who failed to make the varsity team said a former advisor purposely excluded the girls. More than 70 tried out for the 16-member varsity squad, but none of the junior class members of the junior varsity team were successful.
Irvine Unified School District Supt. Dennis M. Smith reviewed the tryout procedures and said he found no evidence of wrongdoing. School board members also said that district policies were followed.
