Katz to Host His Last Business Awards

Assemblyman Richard Katz (D-Sylmar), will host his 13th and final Valley Small Business Awards Breakfast on Friday at the Airtel Plaza hotel.
The award winners are chosen by area chambers of commerce. The state Assembly’s Democratic leader sponsors the ceremony with the National Assn. of Women Business Owners, Kaiser-Permanente, Medi-Ride Inc. and Pacific Bell.
A small-business owner himself, Katz said: “It’s important to recognize the men and women who run small businesses in the Valley. Small-business owners are the backbone of the Valley.”
Katz, a victim of term limits, added: “I hope the next Assembly member will continue the tradition.”
The breakfast, which is open to the public, is scheduled from 7 to 9 a.m. at the hotel, 7277 Valjean Ave. in Van Nuys.
