Boston Lager to Head for U.K.: Brewer and American Revolutionary War patriot Samuel Adams will soon be showing his face in Britain on bottles of Boston Lager under an agreement with Whitbread. Boston Beer fills a void in British pubs, Boston Beer Chief Executive Jim Koch said. “The U.K. is divided between lager and ale drinkers, and there’s nothing in between,” he said. Whitbread will produce Boston Beer and will pay Boston Beer royalties beginning in 1998.
