NORTH HILLS — A 17-year-old Van Nuys resident was hurled from his car and killed Tuesday when it jumped the sidewalk and flipped over, Los Angeles police said.
The teen, whose name was not released pending notification of his family, was driving south on Woodley Avenue at Woodley Place when his car hit the curb, LAPD Officer Bill Mulvihill said.
The car flipped onto the sidewalk, struck a street sign, turned back over, hit another sign and came to a rest against a light pole, Mulvihill said.
The driver died at the scene. Four passengers were taken to nearby hospitals, and one was reportedly in critical condition.
