Hewlett-Packard Gives Out Profit-Sharing Checks: The Palo Alto-based maker of computer, communications and measurement products said it distributed more than $313 million to nearly 103,000 employees throughout the world. Hewlett-Packard Co. said it saw its net earnings for the first half of 1996, on which profit sharing is based, rise to $1.5 billion. Hewlett-Packard has 108,300 employees and had revenue of $31.5 billion for fiscal 1995. In a separate move, HP said that beginning next year, it plans to offer health-care benefits to domestic partners of the same or opposite sex as well as to eligible children.
