3 Robbers Flee After Buena Park Bank Heist

BUENA PARK — Police are looking for three men who burst into an American Savings Bank on Wednesday, stole a customer’s purse and emptied teller drawers of cash before fleeing out the bank’s north door.
The men entered the bank in the 8200 block of La Palma Avenue about 1:55 p.m., Buena Park Lt. Robert Chaney said. No one was hurt in the robbery, but the robbers “scared the heck out of the customers,” Chaney said.
The number of bank robberies has decreased in Orange County in recent years, but “takeover robberies”--a trademark of Los Angeles gang members in which robbers take control of the bank--have increased, FBI officials say.
A description of the men was not available Wednesday night.
