COSTA MESA — A restaurant worker was emotionally shaken after a would-be robber surprised her early Sunday and wrapped his arm around her neck and stuck a pistol in her ear, then fled, police said.
Costa Mesa Police Sgt. George Yezbick said the worker, identified as a 27-year-old woman, was in a McDonald’s restaurant on Bristol Street at 4:30 a.m. when a man in a mask and gloves came up behind her.
He placed a handgun in the woman’s ear, then turned and fled from the store without taking any money, police said.
The man wore a black jacket and dark pants, stood about 5-foot-6 and weighed about 175 pounds.
